Daniela Petkova - Chairperson of the Board of Directors of PAC Doverie, gave an open lecture on "Pension insurance as a form of social protection. Is there trust in times of crisis?" to students from the UNWE
On 28 November, at 12.30 pm, in the crowded hall 4055 of the University of National and World Economy was held an open lecture on "Pension Insurance as a Form of Social Protection. Is there trust in times of crisis?"
Daniela Petkova - Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Pension Assurance Company Doverie, presented to the students studying insurance and assurance, human resources management, media and journalism, etc., up-to-date information on demographic trends, the need for reforms in the solidarity system of pension insurance and the advantages of funded schemes, especially for young people.
She noted that most people, especially the young, do not think about old age and providing a replacement income when they leave employable age. According to her, the national statistics provide evidence of a clear trend of ageing of the nation which cannot be reversed in the coming decades. This leads to serious problems both for public finances, as all elderly people will rely on pensions, and for real businesses, which will have to take into account changes in the demographic structure of the population, both when looking for clients for their products and when hiring labour, she underlined.
Ms. Petkova visited the UNWE at the invitation of the 4th year students of Media and Journalism, agreeing to participate in their course project on the specialty "Public Relations". The event was also supported by Associate Prof. Dr Mariana Keremidchieva - Deputy Dean for research and development activities at the Department of Human Resources and Social Protection and Associate Prof. Dr Galina Georgieva - Scientific Secretary of the Department.
