Employees of PAC Doverie improved Hammam Bair Park in Sliven

Employees of PAC Doverie improved the beautiful Hammam Bair Park in Sliven. The team of the Regional Directorate Southeast Bulgaria chose as its cause this year the cleaning and restoration of part of the facilities in the area, which is a favorite place for recreation and walks of residents and guests of the city.

As part of their annual "Socially Active Day" initiative, employees collected waste, cleared vegetation from the stone pavement, painted climbing frames and slides for children, restored and painted benches and put a completely new roof on one of the gazebos. In addition, a sign was placed on which interesting information about the past of Hammam Bair can be read.

The initiative, which was titled: "Kindness is the only investment that never fails", is part of the corporate social responsibility policy of PAC Doverie and was implemented with the support of the Municipality of Sliven.

In the ancient past, Hammam Bair was part of the stone fortification of the city of Sliven - the so-called. Sharampol. The walls were 5 meters high and there were several doors, towers and loopholes. In front of it there were trenches, with tall stakes (kazaks) rammed in. At that time, the place under the hill was a dense and old forest.

According to legends, Hadji Dimitar at the age of 19 attacked Kostaki Hekimina, (a Turkish agent) and killed him, disguised as a kadana. After that, Hadji Dimitar and Dimitar Dishliya fled to Hammam Bair, where Hadji Dimitar's younger 13-year-old brother was waiting for them. They say that there they change into their real clothes and throw away those with whom they were at Costaki Hekimina.

During the reign of Mayor Dobri Dimitrov Apostolov (1944 - 1949) - in 1949 Hammam Bair was afforested and the monument to the Soviet army and the ossuary of the Soviet soldiers who died in Sliven who participated in the Second World War were built.
