Pension Assurance Company Doverie Cleans Lauta Park
Employees from Pension Assurance Company Doverie in Plovdiv, Smolyan, and Pazardzhik cleaned and revitalized part of Lauta Park as part of their annual "Social Active Day" initiative.
This year, part of the "Southeast Bulgaria" directorate team chose to focus on cleaning Plovdiv’s Lauta Park, a popular spot for relaxation and sports in the city, which was the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
Thanks to the collective efforts of the employees, a significant amount of waste was collected. Among the waste were chewing gums, which are particularly dangerous for birds as they mistake them for bread. When birds try to peck at them, the gum sticks to their beaks, causing them to potentially die from thirst. There is also a high risk of choking if they swallow it.
The Doverie employees also placed wooden birdhouses specifically designed for the birds in the park.
The Lauta Park area has a rich history. The territory was inhabited millennia BC and is known as Yasa Tepe, a prehistoric Neolithic settlement with many discovered building remnants and everyday objects.
In later records from 1523, the area is mentioned as the village of Laut (or Lagud) from the Filibe district. The name’s origin is also associated with the Lautliev family, who owned the land, located outside the city limits.
Doverie's initiative, carried out under the motto "Kindness is the only investment that never fails," is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility policy and was conducted with the support of the local administration.
