PAC Doverie establishes a scholarship for studies at the most prestigious universities in Europe and the USA

2009 marked the 15th anniversary of the founding of Pension Assurance Company Doverie. During this period the Company has implemented a number of socially responsible activities. Most of them were aimed at the young people, their improvement and their successful career in Bulgaria.

 

In the spirit of this established tradition of supporting the professional development of our young compatriots is another initiative of PAC Doverie. In honour of its anniversary, the Company established a scholarship of 15,000 euros per year to support the studies of Bulgarian students in undergraduate programmes in certain major subjects at the most prestigious higher education institutions in Europe and the USA. The most important condition for receiving the scholarship is that the selected candidate returns to Bulgaria after completing his/her studies and becomes part of the PAC Doverie. 

 
Candidates for the scholarship must have chosen one of the following fields of study: Risk Management, Information Technology, Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Financial Analysis, and shall be admitted to one of the following higher education institutions: Harvard University (USA), University of Oxford (the United Kingdom of Great Britain), Yale University (USA), University of Cambridge (the United Kingdom of Great Britain), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Princeton University (USA), London School of Economics and Political Science (the United Kingdom of Great Britain) and Paris Sorbonne University (France).

I. General Information
In honour of the 15th anniversary of the start of its successful activities, PAC Doverie announces a scholarship to support undergraduate studies in the following fields:

  • Risk Management
  • Information technologies;
  • Statistics;
  • Financial Mathematics;
  • Actuarial Science;
  • Financial Analysis

 
The amount of the scholarship is EUR 15 000 per year for the entire period of study, but not more than 4 years.

 
II. Requirements to applicants

Applicants must meet the following requirements. 

  • Bulgarian citizenship;
  • To graduate from secondary school in 2010 in Bulgaria;
  • Studies must start in 2010 and be conducted at one of the following institutions:
  • Harvard University;
  • University of Oxford;
  • Yale University;
  • University of Cambridge;
  • MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology);
  • Princeton University;
  • London School of Economics and Political Science;
  • Paris Sorbonne University;
     

The applicants shall not receive other sponsorship for the specific studies.

 
III. Main obligations of the scholarship holder
To complete his/her studies within the time frame provided in the respective program;
To maintain an overall grade in the upper 30% for the major for the entire period of study; To be part of the PAC Doverie team for a period of 2 years after the completion of the studies.

 
IV. Documents

The applicants must submit: 

  • Application Form;
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • A transcript from the current school, which contains information on grades and expected graduation date;
  • Proof of admission to the respective university;
  • Essay of 1-2 printed pages on the topic. The confidence for my future in Bulgaria. The font for writing the essay should be Verdana, pitch 10. 

 

V. Selection of a scholarship recipient

The selection of the scholarship recipient will be made by a committee appointed by the Executive director of PAC Doverie based on the submitted documents and a personal meeting with selected applicants.

 
VI. Deadlines
1. Submission of documents - 31 March 2010;
2. Selection of applicants - 30 April 2010;
3. Final selection of "15 Years of Doverie" scholarship recipient - 15 May 2010;
