PAC Doverie supported the fifth edition of the conference Investor FINANCE Forum - 5 BIG TRENDS

Key aspects of the capital market development strategy and the interest of large institutional investors were discussed by the participants in the Investor Day panel at the fifth annual Investor FINANCE Forum conference, which took place on 18 November in Sofia.

Miroslav Marinov, Executive director of PAC Doverie, was one of the panellists at the event, who expressed the position of institutional investors on issues related to the development of capital markets and SeeLink. According to him, the growth of the market is in direct relation to the economic growth of the country, but due to the fact that in Bulgaria this relationship did not exist in the past and the capital market is still in its early stage of creation, a lot of work can and should be done to reach the level of developed countries. He said that SeeLink is a very interesting project and undoubtedly brings the region closer, but it cannot cure the problems in it.

Miroslav Marinov stressed the importance of the project for the Balkans and the revitalisation of the capital markets in the region and added that all countries and exchanges in the region, except perhaps Greece, suffer from similar problems. A change in the regulatory framework in the countries regarding SeeLink is needed for the platform to fully operate, he said. “SeeLink cannot erase the problems of the corporate management, the inconsistent decisions of the institutions, the currency regimes, the currency risk hedging, the frequent change of regulations in different countries but sure can be a catalyst for their resolution”.

During the discussion, the roadmap for capital market development in Bulgaria was discussed in detail, a day after the Capital Market Development Board approved a strategy for its revitalisation. PAC Doverie supports the implementation of the Investor FINANCE Forum for the second consecutive year.
