Nikolay Marev

Nikolay Marev was born in 1967, in Burgas and completed his secondary education at the English language high school in Burgas. He holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting and International Economics from the State University of New York and a master's degree in International Economic Relations from the Budapest University of Economics. Also has an ACCA accounting qualification. Fluent in English, Hungarian and Russian. 

He started his career as an auditor at Coopers & Lybrand in Budapest, in August 1994. Continued as a corporate auditor at Philip Morris in Lausanne, Switzerland, until the end of 1997. Worked at the Central and Eastern European venture capital fund Oresaventures in Brussels until the end of 1999. 

As the financial director of Cefin Holding S.A.q from the beginning of 2000 to September 2003, he created dealer networks for sales of "Iveco" trucks in Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria with the Cefin brand and in parallel captive leasing companies under the Afin brand. 

From October 2003 to the end of 2004, he was procurator and financial director of DSK Bank, a member of the OTP group. From the beginning of 2005 to May 2009, he was executive director of Merkantil Bank in Budapest, a member of the OTP Group, where he was responsible for the development of the bank's international network. He created and managed leasing companies in Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine. 

From June 2009 to July 2023, he was CEO of Pension assurance company "DSK-Rodina". During this period, "DSK-Rodina" increased its market shares, in terms of insured persons and assets under management, from 8% to 20%. The number of insured persons reached 970 thousand and the assets under management - BGN 4.2 billion, ranking it in 3rd place in the pension industry.
